The Library Inn

Rent It

Our upstairs apartment doubles as a model of our work and a weekend rental unit! We have it listed on Airbnb and Vrbo to be rented by people traveling to the area or with visiting family members. You can rent for as long as you need, and we have multiple options for additional services beyond just cleaning! Ask us about our Bridal and Luxury packages and any other accommodations you might need.

About

This space has been a labor of love over two years now. We are incredibly proud to say it's come to a finish and ready to serve as the space it was intended to be. When Maude (owner) purchased the building Lowcountry Wallcoverings was operating out of that space and the downstairs portion was under construction. Once the lower portion was finished and ready for business, she was able to begin planning for upstairs. It has been such a blessing to get to work with so many members of the community on the project and the reception now that it's open is incredible.

The apartment/showroom features a full kitchen, dining area, living room, laundry room and half bath, a guest bedroom, and a master bedroom with an adjoining full bathroom. From a Schumacher mural behind the soaking tub to designer rugs in every room to custom butcher-block counter tops, we did our best to outfit the space in luxury and style.

History

The Byrd E. Mingledorff building was the first retail store opened in Springfield, GA in the early 19th century. Mr. and Mrs. Mingledorff constructed the space that is now the antique store and our Library Inn above it, and the back portion that serves as the Lowcountry Wallcoverings store and our workspace was added on later. We wanted to honor the building's history with a few of our design choices, as well as naming the Suites upstairs after the original owners. The floors in the upstairs apartment were restored to match their original state and mirror the ceiling. The library shelves downstairs that hold all of our sample books and products were constructed to resemble the original shelving in the general store
